Decorating Your Child’s Bedroom Tips

Get your child involved in decorating his room so he can fully express himself.  This can also serve as your bonding time where you get to know more of your child’s preferences, style and interests.  Most of all, he will be happy that he has been a part in decorating his own bedroom.

Furniture that suits children must be durable and creative.  It would be nice if they look nice to play with but ensure that their sturdiness can endure the beatings of your kids.

The use of bunk beds is a good choice particularly if two children share a room.  It will give them ample space in the room.

A child’s room will always be in need of storage space.  Children love to leave their things on the floor or just toss it anywhere.  To teach him organization, pick a bed with a headboard that provides storage spaces.  You can add fitted shelves on top of the bed if it does not have a headboard that can serve as a shelf for his books, CDs, toys, or magazines.  The room can be used as a den or home office in case he outgrows the room.

You may also choose to buy a complete bedroom set to assure that each harmonizes with one another.  This consists of the bed, nightstand, dresser, wardrobe cabinet, chests and rack.

Be reminded that your child’s bedroom will have to undergo three basic changeovers – from being a baby’s room to being a toddler’s room to finally a teenager’s room.  Choosing excellent quality furniture pieces is practical and economical.  Modern furniture is designed to be more pragmatic, adaptable and functional; thus, stretching the value of your money.

Prior to starting the decorating job for your kid’s room, bear in mind that your main objective is to provide him a room that is outstanding, unforgettable and comfortable.  Give him a bedroom that provides functional furniture that grows together with him.

Use Colors and Furniture to Bring Zest in Your Bedroom

We spend more time in our bedroom; therefore, it must provide us with an atmosphere that will make us relax and at peace.

By using colors and furniture, you can bring zest in your bedroom.

Paint your colors with calming and soothing colors.  The combination of green and grey induce a restful mood that is likewise stylish and alluring.  You can also have red for an Oriental appeal.  You can also maintain the colors of your wall and use your furniture to add fizz.

To have a peaceful and soporific mood in your bedroom, surround it with affectionate colors.

Practice caution if you use colors as your accents.  Green, blue, gray and white are considered cool colors, as they produce an interesting result.  However, they should be used in moderation so as not to reduce the warmth of your bedroom.

Combine monochromatic colors with lively hues.  Have your accessories or furnishings in yellow or peach if you have faint green walls.  Linens and pillows can be in raspberry color.

Balance the cool colors with affectionate hues.  If your wall is painted in blue, which is a cool color, choose yellow for your bed sheets, pillow cases, throws, etc.  A red area rug placed in front of the bed would also add warmth to the cool blue color of your walls.

Choose furniture that is made of dark wood or metal.  These are the natural hues of contemporary furniture.  You can keep your old pieces of furniture if they are still functional.  Repair them (if this can still be done) and repaint them by using a more outstanding, happy and relaxing color.

The use of varying colors in your bedroom can give it a spark.  Colors can affect our moods so you must create the scene that is conducive to giving you peace and happiness.  Colors are not only applied for your furnishings, accessories and walls.  They can also be applied on your furniture.   Even if you have wooden furniture, you can still incorporate some color in them by making sure that they get a new finish or polish.

It would also be good for your health to have a periodic change in the colors of your bedroom.  Have a good rest and get recharge by using colors and furniture in your bedroom wisely.

What is Your Choice of Bed: King Size or Queen Size?

To sleep comfortably, you need to have a bed that can accommodate and support your weight and size.  You should also be able to roll on your side conveniently especially if you share the bed with someone.

Beds come in different sizes:  twin, full, queen and king sizes.  If you are alone, the twin or full size is more than adequate for you.  However, some people prefer the queen or king size even if they are alone.  Both the queen and king size fits a couple or if the bed is to be shared with someone.

  4. you get to stretch better
  5. available in a myriad of selections are the linens, sheets and blankets

Downside:  bedroom must be spacious and the door’s opening must be wide

King size beds’ basic measurement is 76 x 80 inches and is likewise fitting for couples.

Upsides:

  1. offers more area to stretch
  2. the family can lie together and relax
  3. the extensiveness of the king size helps in soothing your senses
  4. you can sleep well without worrying of disturbing your spouse
  5. more expensive than the queen size
  6. requires a bigger room and door opening

Downsides:

  1. bed linens, sheets and blankets are hard to find
  2. bedroom must be huge as well as the door opening
  3. more expensive than the queen size

Matching Furniture for a Brown-Walled Bedroom

Brown colored bedroom walls may look drab and dreary if you will not give much thought on choosing the appropriate furniture.  Matching furniture colors for a brown-walled bedroom would make your room more elegant.

Matching furniture and furnishings with your brown colored walls

1.      If your walls were painted with dark tones of brown, adopt the light tones of brown with your fixtures and decorations such as your area rug, photo frames and lamp shades and vice versa.
2.      Use white borders to highlight the various tones and to cultivate a lighter ambiance in your bedroom.  Just remember not to exaggerate its use to avoid creating a hospital atmosphere.  White must be used for emphasis and must be combined with livelier hues.
3.      If you plan to have a sofa, chair or chaise, choose one in chocolate brown leather chairs for a classy appeal.

4.      To foster a nature ambiance, use blinds made of bamboo.
5.      For wooden furniture such as chest, dressers, cabinets, bedside tables or desk, choose those with lacquered finish.
6.      Soft and smooth are those that made use of velvet materials as well as these cultivate a comforting appeal, particularly if the fabric has floral designs.  Citrus yellow bed covers will complement the walls well.
7.      Your linens, pillow covers, blankets, and drapes can be in shades of blue, as they will emphasize your bedroom brown walls even more.

8.      The soft texture of chenille harmonizes well with brown-colored rooms.  Choose from various patterns --stripes, floral, and checkered.
9.      Floors can be ceramic tiles and natural stones or wine-colored carpet.
10.  Paintings that feature oceans and seas are a good match with brown walls.
11.  To complete the ambiance of your bedroom, have scented candles or potpourri pots.
12.  You can also have a plant in your bedroom for a nature touch and to bring freshness and life in the room.

 .
Brown-colored bedroom can blend with modern, contemporary and traditional types of furniture; therefore, it is not difficult to find furniture that will match your bedroom’s brown walls.

Bedroom Furniture Set in Leather – What is it like?

Buying a furniture set is ideal if you want your room to look grand and well planned.  It ensures you that every aspect matches such as the color, texture, the material and the manner they were made.  If you plan to buy a bedroom set, it may include all the pieces of furniture that you need or only a few.  This, of course, depends on the manufacturer and the price.  A really complete set would normally be expensive.

One of the modern and contemporary furniture that is being sold these days is the leather bedroom set.  Leather is commonly used for living room fitment, dining room and office chairs.  Hence, it is quite puzzling how a leather bedroom set looks like.

There are two types of leather bedroom sets.
  • The small leather bedroom set consists of a bed with headboard, a dresser and one or two night stands (this will depend on the size of the bed).
  •  The bigger leather bedroom set is almost complete, as it has the bed with headboard, side tables, dresser with vanity mirror, wardrobe and chest drawer.  Some even include a foot stool, love seats, ottomans, chairs and couches.

Most leather bedroom sets are available in a myriad of colors and leather types giving you varied options.

The leather feature of these furniture sets are on the headboard and seating fitment like chairs, couches, love seat or ottomans.  They also are made of wood and other materials with different colors and textures of wood.   The style varies from modern, contemporary, traditional, or transitional.

Since the leather is available in various colors, it can easily match any kind of bedroom motif whether it is traditional, modern or magical.

However, what makes leather bedroom sets different is not really the style or the size but the leather type.  Leather has different types and this is what makes the furniture pieces to stand out.

The furniture pieces usually rely on the size of the bedroom.  A few small bedroom sets that include a bed with headboard and nightstand offer other pieces that can be bought separately.
