Tips on Having Accent Walls in the Living Room

="

If you have not seen an accent wall, it will be quite off-putting on having one in your living room. Accent walls refer to one side of a room where one wall has a varied look compared with the other walls in the room.

="

If you plan to have an accent wall in your living room, you need to plan how to make it different.

="

Accent walls are normally whole, without windows or doors. There are exemptions like a window that offers a stunning panorama or an accent hue around striking French doors.

="

Choosing your accent wall

Examine which is the natural heart of the room. Most people choose the fireplace. If you choose this, paint the wall in a varied color to make it more remarkable. Look for other areas or items. It can be the wall with artworks, a corner or an alcove, furniture or an architectural wall that is worth seeing.

="

If you cannot find a natural hub in your living room, then produce. Ask yourself what you want the eye to see first. This could be a plant, vase, framed photographs, sculpture or painting. Then assign the wall behind the item as the accent wall.

="

It should draw attention to a big central place either near or on the accent wall. This can be a TV stand, bookshelf, entertainment center, a big sofa or any striking furniture. Do not leave accent walls alone.

="

If your living room has an oval shape or oblong, choose the most distant short wall. The wall will look nearer because the accent color will elicit attention and correct your living room’s shape.

="

Ensure that there will be no rivalry between the other walls and the accent wall. Do not choose an accent wall that is beside a wall that has some central spot. For instance, a mirror or a striking wall décor – an accent wall beside it may establish disorder.

="

When you have selected which side of the living room will be your accent wall, choose the paint color to use. Choose a rich color; it does not have to be orange or red like what other people think it should be.
